Welcome to Washington, D.C.
Washington is widely recognized as the seat of government for the United States. The area offers much more, however. From its celebrated symbols of patriotism to its undiscovered neighborhoods, the sights and sounds of the U.S. capital inspire millions of visitors every year. Walk the steps of the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials. Discover the wonder of flight at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum or the intrigue of espionage at the International Spy Museum. Reflect on human history at the National World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, or the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
